Employee Spotlight: Alan Gonzalez, Midwest Assistant Project Manager

Celebrating one year of growth, teamwork, and a promising career in commercial construction.

This October, DeLauter is proud to spotlight Alan Gonzalez, Assistant Project Manager for our Midwest Division, as he celebrates his one-year anniversary with the company on October 7, 2026.
Alan joined DeLauter shortly after graduating from college and has quickly become a valued member of our Midwest team. From assisting experienced Project Managers to taking on projects of his own, Alan has demonstrated a strong willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and a commitment to delivering quality work.
As Bill shares:
"Fresh out of college, Alan Gonzalez has already made an immediate impact at DeLauter. His can-do approach to every task he takes on has been a welcome addition to the team. Although Alan has been with DeLauter for less than a year, he continues to grow his skill set and confidence every day. As an Assistant Project Manager, Alan works directly with our Project Managers and recently completed his first solo project. His ability to communicate, willingness to learn, and positive attitude are qualities that make him a great addition to the DeLauter team."
We sat down with Alan to learn more about his first year at DeLauter, his experience in commercial construction, and what he enjoys most about being part of the team.
How long have you been with DeLauter, and what first brought you to the company?
I have been with DeLauter for 11 months now. I was about to graduate from college when I saw a job opportunity at DeLauter. I looked into the company and realized what a dream opportunity it would be to get hired here. Luckily, I was given the opportunity, and I haven’t looked back since!
What is your role at DeLauter, and what does a typical day look like for you?
Currently, I am an Assistant Project Manager for the Midwest Division. A typical day starts with a cup of coffee at 7 a.m. and a quick look through my email inbox. From what’s waiting in my inbox, I can usually tell how fun the day is going to be. If I’m running a project, I’ll jump on that first. If not, I’ll assist the PMs or our Midwest Director in any way I can.
How has your role evolved since you first started with DeLauter?
My role at DeLauter has evolved quite a bit. At first, I spent a lot of time asking the PMs what I could assist with, and they would give me a small task. It quickly evolved into them fully trusting me with tracking RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes and reports, running down to jobsites, and more. I am now also running my own small remodel and build-out projects.
What do you enjoy most about your role and the work you do?
What I enjoy most about my role is how different every day is. Whether I’m heavily involved in helping the PMs or fully immersed in my own projects, no two days are the same.
What has been the biggest thing you’ve learned during your time at DeLauter?
The biggest thing I’ve learned at DeLauter is the value of teamwork and how much smoother projects run when everyone is involved and working toward the same goal. Having a strong team in your corner makes all the difference, whether it’s helping with the workload, working through project issues, planning ahead, or bringing different perspectives to the table.
What do you find most rewarding about being part of the DeLauter team?
100% looking back at a project after completion and thinking, “I was a part of this.” We build a lot of cool buildings, and even when they are the same franchise, each project comes with its own challenges. When that building finally becomes an operating business, that’s when the satisfaction really kicks in for me.
Is there a project, accomplishment, or experience at DeLauter that you’re especially proud of?
I think an overall accomplishment that stands out is how we, as a company, have continued delivering projects to happy clients while juggling so many other things. Everyone has played their part and gone above and beyond to exceed expectations while navigating the exciting growth of DeLauter!
What skills or qualities do you think are important for success in your role?
Being willing to listen and take constructive criticism. There’s so much valuable knowledge you can gain from people who have been doing this for years. Their advice and experience are invaluable, and being able to learn from them is like getting free money—you just have to be willing to listen!
What stands out to you most about DeLauter or the people you work with?
What stands out to me the most is how helpful and supportive everyone is. No matter how busy someone is or whether a project is even theirs, they are always willing to take the time to help. It makes it much easier to ask questions and learn when I know that any of the superintendents or my coworkers in the office will be there to help without hesitation.
When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, staying active, and enjoying all things sports, whether that’s watching a game or attending events in person. I’m also a big fan of concerts and festivals and always look for an opportunity to attend one!
Looking Ahead
In just one year, Alan has made impressive strides in his career, moving from supporting daily project management tasks to independently managing smaller commercial remodels and build-outs.
His enthusiasm, dedication, and eagerness to learn reflect the teamwork and commitment that drive DeLauter's continued growth. As our Midwest Division takes on new projects and opportunities, team members like Alan play an important role in helping us deliver the quality and service our clients expect.
Congratulations, Alan, on your one-year anniversary! We are grateful to have you on the DeLauter team and look forward to seeing all that you accomplish in the years ahead.
