Successful construction projects rely on strong coordination both in the field and behind the scenes. This month’s DeLauter Employee Spotlight features Linda Rizzo, Southeast Office Coordinator, whose extensive industry experience, organizational skills, and willingness to help others support the daily success of our Southeast team.
We spoke with Linda about her experience, her evolving role at DeLauter, and the people and projects that make her work rewarding.
How long have you been with DeLauter, and what first brought you to the company?
“I joined DeLauter on February 27, 2023. With more than 40 years of experience in the construction industry, I felt my background and skill set would allow me to contribute in a meaningful way and continue doing work I enjoy.”
Linda’s decades of construction industry experience provide a valuable foundation for her work at DeLauter. Since joining the company, she has continued applying that knowledge while embracing new responsibilities and opportunities to learn.
How has your role at DeLauter evolved since you first started?
“Since starting at DeLauter, my role has continued to grow as I’ve taken on additional responsibilities and become more involved in supporting different areas of the company. Each day brings something new, which has helped me continue learning and expanding my knowledge.”
That variety is an important part of Linda’s position. As the needs of the company and Southeast team have evolved, so has her role.
What has been the biggest change as your responsibilities have grown?
“One of the biggest changes has been becoming more involved with permitting. It has added another level of responsibility and coordination, but it has also been a great learning experience.”
Permitting requires close attention, consistent communication, and careful coordination. Linda has welcomed the added responsibility as another opportunity to expand her knowledge and provide meaningful support to the team.
What does a typical day look like for you in your current position?
“My days are usually busy from the moment I walk through the door. There is always something that needs attention, whether it’s assisting team members, handling project-related tasks, or helping keep daily operations running smoothly.”
No two days are exactly alike. Linda’s ability to manage competing priorities helps ensure that important details are addressed and team members have the assistance they need.
What do you find most rewarding about your role and the work you support?
“The most rewarding part of my role is being able to help others. I truly enjoy supporting fellow employees and assisting anyone who may need help. Being part of a team that works together and supports one another makes the job very fulfilling.”
Linda’s answer reflects the collaborative culture that supports DeLauter’s work. Her willingness to step in, answer questions, and assist others strengthens both daily operations and the larger team.
How has DeLauter evolved since you first started, and what has kept you here over the years?
“What has stood out to me most at DeLauter is the kindness and support I receive from everyone throughout the company. From the Southeast Regional Manager to the Project Managers, Accounting Department, and so many others, everyone is always willing to help and work together as a team. That positive environment is what makes DeLauter such a great place to be.”
While Linda has only been with DeLauter since 2023, she has already seen her responsibilities expand and her connections across the company grow. The support she describes is central to creating an environment where employees can learn, contribute, and succeed together.
What’s one project, initiative, or accomplishment you’re especially proud of during your time at DeLauter?
“I am especially proud of being involved with the Gateway Apartment closeouts. It was rewarding to help see the project through completion and be part of the team effort that made it successful.”
Project closeout is a critical stage of the construction process. Linda’s involvement with the Gateway Apartment closeouts allowed her to help bring the team’s work to completion and contribute to a successful final result.
What skills or qualities do you think are most important for success in an office-based role like yours?
“Strong organizational and communication skills are extremely important. Being able to manage multiple tasks, stay organized, and communicate effectively with others helps keep everything running efficiently.”
In a role that touches multiple projects, responsibilities, and departments, those skills are essential. Linda’s ability to stay organized while communicating effectively helps maintain clarity across a busy working environment.
What advice would you give to someone new to DeLauter or just starting out in a corporate/office position?
“Don’t be afraid to ask questions. The more questions you ask, the more confident and proficient you will become in your role. There is always something new to learn, and having a willingness to learn goes a long way.”
Linda’s own role demonstrates the value of remaining open to new responsibilities. Her advice offers an important reminder that asking questions is not only part of learning—it is how employees build the knowledge and confidence needed to grow.
When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?
“When I’m not working, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and taking time to relax and recharge. Family time and a little R&R are very important to me.”
Whether she is coordinating responsibilities at the office or enjoying time with her family, Linda understands the importance of supporting others and making space to recharge.
Thank you, Linda, for the experience, organization, and dedication you bring to DeLauter. Your willingness to help and commitment to teamwork make a meaningful difference to our people, projects, and Southeast operations.
